Grand Canyon Day

The walk from the desert view Watchtower to the village on the South Rim was wonderful. How far we walked I do not remember, the stunning views of the Canyon and the Colorado river kept your mind thrilled by the sights ,so time and distance faded into insignificance. Fortunately, we visited in May so there were not the crowds of visitors normally associated with sites like this.

Niagara Falls

The excitement of these waterfalls has had visitors gasping in amazement since it the first recording of them in 1604. It was no different for me; one always thinks of the Niagara Falls as one waterfall but in fact, it covers three beautiful falls. The American falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls, which we think of when we say Niagara Falls. While they were all stunning, the Horsehoe falls were breathtaking. Our maid of the Mist ride was going to see all of them.

Lake Louise and Bow Lakes

The days we spent in Jasper were filled with awe and appreciation of the beauty of the area. Lake Louise was obviously high on the list of places to visit. So it was we set out to do just that, the famous Icefields parkway beckoned. The wild life something else, we even got to see a baby brown bear, there was no way we were getting out of the vehicle, baby bears are probably followed by mother bears!

Rotnest Island, Western Australia

While visiting Perth I took the opportunity to go and see Rotnest Island, an A class reserve off the coast of Fremantle. Reaching Fremantle by train from Perth, the station close to the dock where the boats depart to go to Rotnest.
It was fascinating to watch a group of Galahs busy searching for food close by. They can be very noisy I discovered but interesting to watch.
