Must See Places of North America – Vancouver, British Columbia

Traveling alone is not restrictive at all in my way of thinking. Like all explorers, I like the saying why do you do it. The correct
answer is as always, because its there! While not strictly North America, the Canadian city of Vancouver certainly comes under that description. If you are visiting Vancouver for any length of time, here are some places that I loved. One of my favourite cities of the world, there is a stack of places to see and experience.

Niagara Falls

The excitement of these waterfalls has had visitors gasping in amazement since it the first recording of them in 1604. It was no different for me; one always thinks of the Niagara Falls as one waterfall but in fact, it covers three beautiful falls. The American falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls, which we think of when we say Niagara Falls. While they were all stunning, the Horsehoe falls were breathtaking. Our maid of the Mist ride was going to see all of them.

Rocky Mountaineer, Jasper to Vancouver

We boarded the train on a beautiful clear blue morning Jasper was really looking its best. Traveling Red class as this time, the train stopped in Kamloops for the night so sleeping was not a concern.

The car attendant was a very knowledgeable young man who kept us informed as the train moved through the forests, past waterfalls, lakes and wild life. The piece de resistance was the sight of Mt Robson, the highest mountain peak in the Canadian Rockies, pristine in its snow-capped reach to the sky.

Lake Louise and Bow Lakes

The days we spent in Jasper were filled with awe and appreciation of the beauty of the area. Lake Louise was obviously high on the list of places to visit. So it was we set out to do just that, the famous Icefields parkway beckoned. The wild life something else, we even got to see a baby brown bear, there was no way we were getting out of the vehicle, baby bears are probably followed by mother bears!

Night Time in Niagara

The day quickly disappeared into the early evening dusk. Dusk ushered in dinner being taken at the top of the Skylon tower revolving restaurant, looking out over the Niagara Falls. Whipping up to the top in 52 seconds by a yellow elevator on the outside of the tower was exhilarating in itself.
